Negotiations between Memorial University and the MUN Faculty Association continue today with the help of a conciliator.
The two sides got back together yesterday for exploratory talks and agreed to reconvene today in an attempt to resolve the ongoing strike.
Courses taught by MUNFA members remain on pause while discussions continue.
Memorial University says it remains committed to negotiating a fair and balanced collective agreement while MUNFA President Ash Hossain this week expressed optimism over the resumption of talks. He called it a “powerful demonstration” of the strength of the strike.
Meanwhile, Memorial University says it has received reports of what it calls “unsafe behaviours” at picket lines.
There are suggestions that a vehicle drove through a picket line yesterday in an unsafe manner.
The university says strikers have a right to picket and drivers are reminded to use extreme caution and watch for pedestrians when driving near MUN campuses.
Drivers should expect delays and proceed only when it is safe to do so.
The university says if anyone experiences an incident involving safety, they are urged to report it using the report feature in MUN Safe.
Memorial is working with the RNC and is reporting any illegal activity.
