Two man have been charged after over 109,000 contraband cigarettes were seized from a vehicle in Churchill Falls.
The RNC first pulled the vehicle over on January 9. The driver was found to have a suspended license and no insurance, and the vehicle was seized.
After the vehicle was seized police found 109,800 contraband cigarettes inside.
Last Thursday, February 9, police arrested 26-year-old Alexander Powell of Corner Brook in connection to the alleged offence. He was held to appear in court on a charge of unlawful possession of tobacco.
An arrest warrant for a second man, 34-year-old Justin Roberts of Deer Lake, has also been issued. He is facing charges of unlawful possession of tobacco, mischief, identity fraud, and breach of a release order.
