The provincial government has started the process of negotiating the bilateral agreements on health care with the federal government.
Premier Andrew Furey and Health Minister Tom Osborne met with federal ministers Jean-Yves Duclos and Dominic Leblanc in Deer Lake today to discuss their alignment on shared priorities for the agreements.
The priority areas for government include expanding access to family health services in rural and remote areas, supporting workers and reducing backlogs, improving access to mental health and substance use services, and modernizing the health care system with standardized health data and digital tools.
The Premier has directed Minister Osborne to work with Minister Duclos to finalize the bilateral agreements “in an accelerated fashion.”
In Deer Lake this morning I met with Min. @DLeBlancNB, Min. @jyduclos, and Min. @TomOsborneMHA. We discussed our alignment of shared priorities – building on the Health Accord and our plan to improve the health care system for all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. pic.twitter.com/Rs4A7Eumg3
