Most streets in the capital city have seen some form of snow clearing, however it will still be a number of days before sidewalks are optimal for pedestrian use.
Deputy City Manager of Public Works for the City of St. John’s, Lynnann Winsor, says the timeline following a storm for sidewalk clearing is normally four to seven days. She says that is due to the equipment they use.
She says the machines they use are essentially ride-on snow blowers and when snow banks are tall, it can add to the time it takes.
City crews work around the clock on roads & designated sidewalks during and after a snowstorm. You can help our crews do their job safely & effectively by doing your part, and keeping your distance when you see plows on the roadway. https://t.co/4OdPFbIwXg #nlwx #nltraffic pic.twitter.com/GFFk3TZcnv
