The Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador says the College of Physicians and Surgeons is supportive of the move to create an Atlantic registry for doctors.
The registry, which will be launched on May 1, was announced during a news conference by the Council of Atlantic Premiers yesterday.
The registry, they say, will eliminate much of the red tape that doctors face in getting licensed in other provinces.
Premier Andrew Furey says the College of Physicians and Surgeons in this province was consulted.
Furey says it is a “very welcome” move.
Meanwhile, another topic during the meetings was air travel throughout the province.
Last week Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador described air access to the province as being their biggest concern.
Furey says air access is a shared concern among all the Atlantic provinces. He says they are looking at creative ideas to service the region—such as incentives for more local carriers to potentially expand their service.
