A Paradise man accused of killing another man while driving drunk on Pitts Memorial Drive last year had his case called in provincial court this morning.
Twenty-four-year-old Joshua Burt was charged with dangerous driving causing death and impaired driving causing death after the crash that killed 42-year-old Brad Kerrivan of Mount Pearl.
The collision occurred in the early-morning hours of April 3 last year.
Burt was charged three months later.
Kerrivan was reportedly on his way to pick up his partner at the airport when his vehicle was struck head-on by a pickup truck. He died at the scene.
Burt, meanwhile, was treated in hospital for serious injuries.
Lawyers appeared in court by teleconference this morning, where it was learned the defence is still awaiting a large amount of disclosure from the Crown.
That’s expected to be forwarded and reviewed over the next few weeks, with the next court date set for April 18.
A designation has been filed with the court that allows Burt’s lawyer to appear on his behalf until pleas are entered.
