VOCM News has learned that RCMP showed up at the Come By Chance refinery on Friday, armed with a warrant as part of an ongoing investigation into last fall’s flash fire at the site.

Braya Renewable Fuels CEO Frank Almaraz says RCMP returned to the site on Friday, March 3, and retrieved addition documents related to the incident.

One man died and seven more were taken to hospital—some with very serious injuries—following a flash fire at the site on September 2, 2022.

The horrific incident resulted in an extensive Occupational Health and Safety Investigation and a concurrent RCMP investigation.

Almaraz says the company is supportive of the continued investigation.
