The pedestrian-only zone in Quidi Vidi Village is returning this summer with a longer season.

St. John’s City Council approved a motion to reinstate the pedestrian zone for the next two summers from June 23 to September 3.

Five food trucks, the ice cream shop, and a beer tent are all planned for the upcoming season.

Councillor Ophelia Ravencroft says prior to the motion, business owners had requested the zone be in place for the same duration as the downtown pedestrian mall, which it now will be.

She says it has been a “smashing” success for business owners, and she is pleased it is happening again.
