Two Botwood men have been arrested and are facing a list of charges following a recent break in at the local Shopper’s Drug Mart.
Police arrested 48-year-old Jamie Fudge and 49-year-old Brian Fudge in a cabin area Wednesday night. The pair face charges stemming from the theft of a safe from the drug store which contained narcotics.
The break in was reported on Tuesday. A safe containing a quantity of fentanyl and concentrated methadone was taken around 1:00 a.m. that morning.
Surveillance footage showed three people arrive on the scene on a side-by-side matching the description of one stolen earlier in the week from a residential garage in Grand Falls-Windsor.
Police recovered the stolen ATV on Wednesday which they say was parked at a cabin in Pine Camps near Bishop’s Falls. Officers secured the scene, and while there, police say Jamie and Brian Fudge arrived at the scene in a car. Jamie was arrested without incident, while Brian, who was wanted for failing to attend court, ran away. He later surrendered to police without further incident.
Brian Fudge is facing charges of break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, resisting arrest and failure to attend court. Jamie Fudge has been charged with break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime.
The search continues for the remaining suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP at 489-2121 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
