Parents of students at Prince of Wales Collegiate in St. John’s say they’re upset and frustrated with an escalation in violent incidents at the school.
A 16-year-old boy was sent to the Janeway for treatment of serious injuries after a shocking and violent attack at the school over the lunch hour yesterday.
The incident occurred around 12:30 and the school was put into Secure Schools mode.
A Major Case Management Team has been assembled by the Constabulary to investigate and police are asking anyone with video footage to come forward.
Meghan Lane has a child who attends PWC. She says while shocking, she’s not surprised with the latest incident.
Her heart sank when she heard the news. She says it’s the latest in what has been an escalation in incidents over the last year.
Lane says most of the information being received by parents is unconfirmed and coming from students, which is leading to more questions.
She says among the rumours going around is that people entered the school. She says if true, parents need to know how that happened.
Meanwhile, RNC are looking for possible surveillance or video footage around the time of the incident from the areas of Paton Street, Elizabeth Avenue from Westerland Road to Freshwater Road, Anderson Avenue. Stabb Court, Keegan Court, Cowperthwaite Court, and Mitchell Court.
