The provincial legislature opens today for the spring sitting, and, unsurprisingly, it looks as though health care and the cost of living will be the top priorities.
In a statement, Government House Leader John Hogan outlines those exact issues, noting that government’s plan for improving the health care system remains a top priority for them as they bring forward the 2023 budget—which is scheduled to be delivered next Thursday, March 23.
The PC Party is similarly looking at health care and the cost of living in their plans for this sitting of the legislature. The PCs have been pushing hard on issues related to health care access and ambulatory services in recent months.
The NDP is also looking for movement on health care shortages and the cost of living. Leader Jim Dinn says housing, child care, pay equity and pay transparency are all items they’d like to see addressed.
The parliamentary calendar indicates that the House will be sitting for a total of seven weeks between now and May 25. Two weeks are set aside as constituency weeks, while two others are marked off for Easter Break.
