A local artisan is warning about a seal carcass up on Topsail Beach.
Ian Gillies says he went down over the stairs to take a picture of an iceberg in the area when he came across the carcass well up on the beach.
He says the carcass is well camouflaged and he actually passed it twice before he noticed it.
Heavy sea ice came into the area a few days ago, but it’s since pushed back out again.
Gillies has called a number of government departments to advise them of the discovery on the popular beach, but can’t get any answers on this provincial government holiday.
