More charges have been laid in connection with an ongoing investigation into historical sexual assault allegations against two St. John’s men.
RNC say 80-year-old Bruce Escott is facing an additional sexual assault charge in connection with an incident believed to have occurred in 2019.
Both Escott and 62-year-old Tony Humby are facing a variety of charges as a result of the ongoing investigation into allegations of sexual assault by adults against young people.
RNC Constable James Cadigan says the two accused are known to each other. He can’t say exactly what the nature of that relationship might be, the two accused do live in close proximity to one another.
Cadigan says some of the reports received by police date back more than a decade.
He says some of the information received dates back to between 2007 and 2009.
The investigation remains active and officers believe there is more information out there. Constable Cadigan says they want to assure those who may wish to come forward that their investigation is trauma-informed, and provides opportunities for that person to control the way in which the information is received.
For those not comfortable coming forward to police, but who want to share their information, a third-party process is available through the Public Legal Information Association of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Journey Project. The information can be provided anonymously.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the RNC or Crime Stoppers.
