The Nature Conservancy of Canada is reminding residents to reflect on the preservation and protection of natural spaces during this Earth Week.
Program Director with the Nature Conservancy of Canada in Newfoundland and Labrador, Piers Evans, says the time to act on protecting nature is now.
He says it needs to be done before it’s “too late” before those areas disappear, or become too fragmented or unviable to support the species with which we share the planet.
Evans says Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador have a long way to go to reach set conservation targets.
“It’s not just…a number on a spread sheet” says Evans, “these are special places, these are species that we’re talking about potentially losing.”
Tomorrow is International Earth Day with a variety of activities planned across the province.
