An Irish musician with a strong connection to this province has passed away.
Richard Harrington, a member of the Harrington Brothers, staples on the Irish Newfoundland Show for songs like the ever popular “Lovely Mary Ann.”

Harrington and his brothers came to become regular household names in the musical circles of the province with connections to Newfoundland’s The Irish Descendants and Irish great Jimmy Carton.
The 1992 album Monto on the Rock was released to great acclaim in Canada and Europe. In 2021, Harrington and his brother Paul released “Monto on the Rock II”, billed as the final Harrington Brothers Album which featured fellow brother Derek, who passed in 2016.
Funeral details have not been announced. Harrington was 77.
