A number of people have been charged and convicted in recent months on a range of offences from illegal wood cutting to ATV violations.
The charges were laid by the provincial enforcement officers with the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture.
Two people, one from Heart’s Delight-Islington and the other from CBS, each pleaded guilty to charges of failing to comply with the terms and conditions of a domestic wood cutting permit. They each received a fine of $500, and 32 cubic metres of timber was forfeited to the crown.
A St. Bride’s man was fined $2,000 after pleading guilty to operating an off-road vehicle outside an approved area and without insurance.
Meanwhile, a St. John’s man was fined $1,500 for operating an off-road vehicle within the Bay du Nord Wilderness Reserve with no entry permit and operating an ATV outside an approved area. He was also fined for illegal possession under the Migratory Bird Convention Act.
