It’s is the McHappiest Day of the entire year!
May 10th marks McHappy Day across Canada, meaning every McDonald’s purchase supports families with sick children.
A portion of proceeds from every McDonald’s menu item sold all day, will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities in Canada—including here in St. John’s.
Christina Morgan, Director of Development & Communications with RMHC-NL says this year, there are lots of ways to support McHappy Day.
She explains that not only is it just visiting your local McDonald’s restaurant. You can also support the cause through the drive-thru, the McDonald’s app or McDelivery.
Morgan says every day there are families travelling to St. John’s for medical reasons for their child and it’s important to have a place to be able to keep families together during a child’s illness and treatments.
She says at Ronald McDonald House Newfoundland and Labrador they’re just steps away from the Janeway Children’s Hospital and that keeping families together, helps families heal together.
With just one Ronald McDonald House in St. John’s, RMHC-NL supports more than 300 families from more than 95 communities in an average year—including the Matthews family from Labrador.
Sarah Matthews and her daughter, who has Down Syndrome and a congenital heart defect, stayed at RMHC-NL for some 24 days.
She says they don’t know what they’d do without the Ronald McDonald House and encourages people to support the cause where they can.
Matthews says RMHC-NL helps families all over the province and having it as an option is game-changing for her family and so many others.
