The national director with the B’nai Brith’s League for Human Rights is calling on the provincial government to implement Holocaust education in elementary schools.
National Director Marvin Rotrand says they hope that the province will emulate what Ontario is doing in that regard.
They hope to have something in place for the 2024-2025 school year. Rotrand believes it will give school kids a base to counteract misinformation seen online.
Immigration Minister Gerry Byrne says some of that work is already underway.
He says the Department of Education is already looking at capacity to build that curriculum. As well, they are looking at the broader context of schools to have the resources to educate about the Holocaust and the history of anti-Semitism.
