The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is marking the start of National Police Week.
The seven-day public awareness campaign hopes to bring increased awareness and understanding between police and the communities they serve.
Today is also Peace Officers’ Memorial Day. It acknowledges those officers who put themselves in harm’s way to keep the public safe, and those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
This year the RNC is recognizing their oath “committed to serve”. Chief Patrick Roche says the RNC is a people-driven organization that is committed to work with community partners for a stronger, safer and healthier community.
