Two people are facing charges of obstruction after a vehicle was pulled over Thursday on the Trans-Canada Highway near Stephenville.
Bay St. George RCMP initiated the traffic stop and requested valid I.D. from both occupants.
But the passenger was not unable to do so. He gave police a name, which was verified by the driver, but officers subsequently learned that the name was false.
The passenger was later identified as Timothy Blake, who had two outstanding warrants for his arrest, one of them for allegedly assaulting a police officer with a weapon.
RCMP found the same vehicle a short time later, and pulled it over again. This time the driver, a 27-year-old woman, was arrested and charged with obstructing a police officer, but Blake refused to get out and locked the doors.
He was eventually removed and arrested.
Blake is also facing charges of obstruction of a police officer, as well as failure to comply with a probation order and release order.
He’s due back in Stephenville provincial court on Monday afternoon.
