A radiothon on 88.3 VOCM raised an overwhelming amount of money in aid of the Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation.

$188,465 was raised during the event on Friday afternoon. Those funds will go towards a number of health care initiatives such as renovations to the waiting room at the Burin Peninsula Health Centre, a cuddle bed for Blue Crest Nursing Home, and garden upgrades at the US Memorial Long Term Care Home.

The money will also help launch a number of comfort and care programs for dialysis and chemotherapy patients by providing gas cards and accommodations when medical travel is required.
