The provincial government is providing more funding for an additional 1,500 out-of-hospital cataract procedures.
The Department of Health says the one-time addition of 1,500 surgeries will be equally distributed across the province amongst three authorized facilities—two in eastern Newfoundland and one in the western zone.
It’s hoped the funding will help to clear up some of the backlog in cataract surgeries made worse by COVID delays.
