A long-time advocate for survivors of child sexual abuse is continuing to press on government the importance of introducing an age-appropriate body safety program in the school curriculum.
Bev Moore Davis says the statistics are staggering. She says cybertips.ca saw a 55 per cent increase in online luring from 2021 to 2022, and a 150 per cent increase in sextortion incidents in the past six months.
Moore Davis says Newfoundland and Labrador is the only province without a body safety program in it’s school curriculum. She’s been lobbying for implementation in the province’s schools for the last five years, but to no avail.
She says Nova Scotia has had the program in its schools since 2009 and New Brunswick has had it since 2014.
