Preparations are well underway on MUN’s St. John’s campus for the 2025 Canada Summer Games.
Construction work has begun on the new Track and Field Facility, and pretty soon renovations will begin at the Aquarena.
Some changes have already taken place, as that facility’s lower parking lot has been taken out of commission due to construction of the Track and Field Facility.
Jordan Wright, 2025 Canada Games Lead at MUN, says they recently went to tender on the work that needs to be completed at the Aquarena, and that process will close in a few weeks.
Wright says people can expect a lot of activity in the area over the next few years.
Aside from standard structural work, they’ll be adding in spectator seating, changes to the diving platforms, changes to the waterslides, new pool bulkheads, a competition clock, and changeroom upgrades.
