Canadians are facing anxiety over the rising cost of housing and debt.
That’s according to a new survey by the Angus Reid Institute on the stress and financial state of Canadians.
The study shows that three in ten of all Canadians report they are struggling to get by, while around half are facing some form of financial challenge.
President Shachi Kurl says those trends extend to this province.
In Newfoundland and Labrador 37 percent report they are struggling financial, while 28 say they are uncomfortable.
She says eventually, there is no money left to save.
She says you don’t have discretion over things like housing and food, and after a while, you run out of things to cut back on. She says that is where people are running out of wiggle room, and those at the lowest end of the spectrum are affected the most.
