The Avalon Arena Association has partnered with Capital Subaru to create a custom sized ice rink in the old Axtion building in St. John’s.
The building will be called the Capital Subaru Arena, and will address issues around limited ice availability and create a new community space.
Association Executive Director Stephen Haggerty says the new ice surface measures 145 feet by 65 feet, which is the recommended ice size for younger athletes.
He says the rink has been designed with accessibility in mind, withy their goal being to accommodate people of all ages and abilities.
They expect the new arena to be up and running in time for the next ice season.
