The provincial government has increased the funding for the purchase of health care equipment across the province.
The $32 million allotment, an increase of $5 million from last year, will be used by Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services and the MUN Faculty of Medicine for equipment replacement and upgrades.
The money is broken up into eight separate categories.
- $6.4 million for the Central Zone;
- $14 million for the Eastern Urban Zone;
- $3 million for the Eastern Rural Zone;
- $1.9 million for the Labrador-Grenfell Zone;
- $2.3 million for the Western Zone;
- $873,000 for Digital Health;
- $363,000 for the Faculty of Medicine; and
- $3.1 million for contingency and other planning.
