The provincial government is offering additional funding for medical residents who have to travel out of province for specialized training.

The program will provide $500,000 a year for medical residents in specialized fields such as dermatology, endocrinology, geriatric medicine, and cardiology.

In order to receive the funding, residents are required to sign an agreement to practice in Newfoundland and Labrador for the duration of their training program.
