St. John’s has a number of Canada Day events popping up around the city this weekend.
The George Street Association will be holding their Canada’s Big Birthday bash on Friday and Saturday, closing down George Street from Adelaide to Water, and Duckworth eastbound from New Gower to Bates Hill.
The capital city will be holding their Sunrise Ceremony on Saturday between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m., as well as their Family Fun Day between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at King George Field. The event will include bouncers, Laser Tag, balloon twisters, interactive games, a cultural concert and activities.
The Canada Day fireworks will take place at Quidi Vidi at 10:00 p.m., with a concert at the bandstand between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. featuring local music group, Cabot Power.
Meanwhile, Memorial Day events will be taking place this Saturday.
The Royal Canadian Legion is putting off a Memorial Day Parade that begins at the Sergeants’ Memorial on Queens Road at 9:50 a.m.
The Memorial Day Ceremony will take place at 10:45 a.m. at the National War Memorial.
