There will be two Memorial Day parades in St. John’s this Saturday instead of the traditional one which takes place downtown.
The Royal Canadian Legion’s event begins at the Sergeant’s Memorial on Queens Road at 9:50 a.m. The Memorial Day Ceremony will take place at 10:45 a.m. at the National War Memorial.
Those looking for more information on the ceremony can call the Provincial Command at 709-753-1054.
Meanwhile, the parade in Bowring Park goes from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
It will mark the beginning of the year of the repatriation of the Newfoundland unknown soldier. Part of the ceremony will be the honouring of the park’s Caribou Memorial that lists all of the Regiment’s fallen that have no known grave.
