Glen “Big Baby” Davis won’t be back in a St. John’s Edge uniform this season.
Davis took to Instagram on Saturday to say he was going to miss the fans of St. John’s.
He went on to say “seems I didn’t do enough to get a call back. I was so excited about the new contract with Mile One. And also hearing that I had a hand in helping this contract get done.”
Davis said to not get a phone call breaks his heart, and that St. John’s will always be in his heart.
In a statement provided to VOCM News, Edge Head Coach, Steve Marcus says “as an organization we are committed to building out this roster with unbelievable men both on and off the court, that the city of St. John’s can get behind and be excited about. Sometimes, change is good. We have failed in our goal of winning a championship here and we are doing everything we can this off season to win a championship.”
Davis wasn’t the only former Edge player to say goodbye to St. John’s on social media over the weekend.
Fan favourites, Jarryn Skeete and Dez Lee both will not return. Lee also posted on Instagram saying thank you to the fans, and that he wishes he could be back.
VOCM News has reached out to Davis for comment.

“As an organization we are committed to building out this roster with unbelievable men both on and off the court, that the city of St. John’s can get behind and be excited about. Sometimes, change is good.
We have failed in our goal of winning a championship here and we are doing everything we can this off season to win a championship.
We are going to be a team this season, 1 through 12 on our roster, we are going to be a team. Every team no matter how strong or successful has turnover year over year.
I am confident the men we bring in this year will build upon the prior successes of this franchise and get us closer to our ultimate goal. I am focused in on my goal as the head coach to bring a championship to St. John’s.“
