More politicians are asking government for an update on the status of the water bomber fleet.

The PCs spoke on it last week, and now the NDP has similar concerns. Labrador West MHA Jordan Brown say there was only one aircraft and crew available for the entire province this past weekend, leaving many in a vulnerable state. Brown says with the volume of wildfires outside Newfoundland and Labrador, it’s unlikely that other provinces would be in a position to divert some of their firefighters to NL.

Brown says government should increase compensation for pilots and be more flexible when it comers to time off.
