Memorial University has issued a request for proposals to review an increase to Faculty of Medicine.
The university is looking to increase the capacity of the program from 80 students to 90.
The successful applicant will review the requirements of the expansion, such as infrastructure, staffing, resourcing and equipment.
The current makeup of the program sees 65 seats reserved for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, with the remaining 15 seats for those from other parts of the country.
The province says the increased capacity will be for residents of the province, noting that research shows that students who study medicine in their home province have a higher rate of staying there.
