The Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra has revealed its lineup for the 2023-24 season, marking to the “Year of the Arts” in the province.
On tap for this year is a wide variety of recognizable classical and popular music pieces, as well as various community partnerships, including one with Wonderbolt Circus, where orchestral music will accompany the circus performance live on September 22.
This season is also noteworthy as it will be the final full season under the baton of Maestro Marc David, who, after more than 30 years, will be leaving the NSO .
CEO Hugh Donnan says Maestro David’s contribution to the orchestra has been immeasurable.
He says its been under his baton that the orchestra has developed into a fully professional organization with almost all the musicians being paid and unionized, as well as finding its tone and talent.
