The family of a man who has been missing from his home in the Goulds since Tuesday night has taken it upon themselves to try to find their loved one.
Thirty-one year-old Joe Whelan was last seen in the area of Windmere Road at about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday night after leaving to walk home, a distance of about 15 minutes. That was where his cell phone last pinged, but there is no sign of either him or any of his belongings.
The Rovers Ground Search and Rescue Team did a search on Wednesday but did not come up with anything.
Whelan is described as being about five feet nine inches tall, 240 pounds with black hair, black beard, and brown eyes.
He was last seen wearing grey shorts, a dark grey t-shirt and black sneakers.
His fiancé, Brittney Gear, who is going to give birth in a few weeks, says there was absolutely no indication that he was troubled.
She says he seemed totally fine, and she knows of no enemies that he would’ve had. Gear says they have looked everywhere they can think of, and called all of his friends.
A community search is taking place this afternoon.
