The provincial government is expanding the reach of the RNC on the west coast.
Justice Minister John Hogan made the announcement in Pasadena this morning.
The expanded jurisdiction will include communities in the Bay of Islands, the Town of Massey Drive, and communities in the Humber Valley as far east as Pasadena.
Government says nearly 33,000 residents will be served by the RNC in the region.
The transition will take place over the next year, with an effective date being finalized over the coming months.
Residents in the affected areas should continue to call their local RCMP detachment until further notice, or call 911 in the event of an emergency.
