Redevelopment work is underway on the old Grouchy’s garage building on LeMarchant Road in St. John’s.

Passers-by may have noticed excavators on the site tearing up the old parking lot surrounding the building.

Choices for Youth is renovating the building to expand its social enterprise activity in the capital city.

Executive Director Sheldon Pollett calls it an exciting project.

It will house a number of social developments, including those developed by Choices for Youth, and those administered by partner organizations.

The new social enterprise hub will operate in addition to their existing operations in and around the city. Pollett says the redevelopment will preserve the special art-deco style of the existing building.

Construction is expected to last about a year.
