The FFAW contends that working conditions at the plant in St. Anthony rival those of a Charles Dickens novel.
Union President Greg Pretty says there were difficulties at the plant in 2020, and the union went through the grievance process.
Pretty told VOCM Open Line that the matter went to arbitration—the results of which were “pretty much in favour of the union.”
He says now they’re “right back to square one.” Pretty accuses management at the Royal Greenland plant of “continually” violating the established collective agreement.
He says there were 15 grievances against the plant in 2020-21.
He accuses the company of being “hell bent” on their agenda which he calls “anti-worker and anti-union.”
