Abby Newhook of St. John’s has been named one of two captains of the Boston College Eagles women’s hockey team.

The junior forward has seen great success with the team, being named as a Third Team All-Star in the 2022-23 season by Hockey East.

She scored a career-high 19 goals with Boston College last season, and was named Rookie of the Year in 2021-2022.

Newhook is the sister of NHL center Alex Newhook, who signed a four-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens this summer.

She and Gaby Roy will serve as co-captains of the 2023-24 Boston College team.
