Health Minister Tom Osborne has announced that government is creating an all-party committee on Substance Use and Addictions.
The announcement comes on the heels of a rally at Confederation Building last month following a recent surge in drug-related deaths.
The formation of the committee stems from the Towards Recovery report released earlier this year.
Osborne says he reached out to the PCs and the NDP to take part in the committee.
He says the committee will be similar to one that was put together five years ago on mental health and addictions.
Osborne says that committee provided the foundation for the Towards Recovery report, and this new group will help build on that.
He says they will be meeting with community groups, stakeholders, and those with lived experience, and will be providing recommendations on how to improve the system.
