A 46-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly spitting on an police officer on the west coast.
Around 8:00 p.m. last night, police were called to the Main Street area of Corner Brook, where a drunk man was throwing cans into the road. When officers arrived, officers attempted to detain the man for his own safety due to his high level of intoxication.
While being detained, the man spit on a responding officer. He was conveyed to Her Majesties Penitentiary where he was held until sober.
He’s now facing charges of assaulting an officer, breach of a release order and drinking in public. He was released to answer to charges at a later date.
