The Town of CBS says they welcome the elimination of the 1.6 km bussing rule.
Mayor Darrin Bent says for the nine schools in the municipality, the rule has been a serious concern for as long as it has been around.
He says while they wish more than just one school were making the switch this year, they are happy to know all nine schools will eliminate the rule next year.
Bent calls the move the “right thing to do”.
He says when you think of a child walking up to a kilometer and a half to school, that does not happen often, which means parents are driving their children and creating more traffic. Now that those children will be on busses, it will be safer and more convenient.
