A Hampden couple were disappointed when the Come From Away show they had tickets for this summer was cancelled due to illness among the cast and crew…but, the trip wasn’t a complete write-off—they’re now the province’s latest millionaires.

Beverly and Winston Parsons bought the Come From Away tickets to celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary. Beverly says as part of their trip they stopped into the store as they went to see the sights.

They decided to drive the Gander Loop and dropped into the Irving for some refreshments and picked up a Max Millions lotto ticket. Beverly says she forgot about it until a few days later back home in Hampden when she decided to check her ticket. “Well, it was a bit of a surprise to find a million dollar ticket.”

Beverly Parsons says they shared their winnings with her two brothers and they’re now debt-free.

“It makes you see life in a different way,” she says.
