Several musical programs and initiatives have received funding in preparation for the province’s Year of the Arts in 2024.
About $700,000 is being divvied up between three groups for programs and events next year.
MusicNL will receive funding for programs aimed at enhancing music and supporting musicians in the province.
Likewise, The NL folk Arts Society will use their share of the funds to expand some of their programs—such as their Young Folk Mentoring Program and Young Folk at the Hall—to the entire province.
As well, a new choral festival termed HarbourVOICES! will be taking place next summer in St. John’s. Co-Artistic Director Andrea Rose says it will be a “major” international gathering of singing groups.
They expect between 40 and 50 groups from around the world, bringing thousands of people to the region.
