There’s a new place to play in Galway.

The City of St. John’s has officially opened the new 6,500 square foot Galway Village Green Playground.

The city provided $1.9 million for the project, with Galway Residential Development LP providing the land.

The area, built with universal design in mind, includes a multi-purpose court, picnic area, trails and pathways.

The playground marks the completion of the first phase of the development project.

Future plans include a splashpad, washrooms, community garden, social gathering area and additional green space and trail connectivity.
