A 37-year-old man is facing charges of dangerous driving and driving while prohibited after crashing his vehicle into a pole in South Dildo on Thursday and nearly colliding with another vehicle.
The incident began unfolding Thursday afternoon when people who saw a vehicle driving dangerously and speeding through the community called Whitbourne RCMP. In one case, another driver was forced off the road to avoid a collision with the speeding vehicle.
Just as oficers were rushing to the scene, the suspect vehicle crashed into a pole in South Dildo.
The driver got out and ran into the woods but was apprehended.
It turns out the man was prohibited from driving after being convicted of refusing the breathalyzer. On top of the criminal charges, the accused was also ticketed for failing to stop at the scene of an accident, having no insurance and driving an unregistered vehicle.
