A teen was arrested on the Trans Canada Highway in central Newfoundland Thursday in connection with the violent theft of a vehicle at the Humber Valley Resort the previous evening.
Deer Lake RCMP say a young person assaulted a woman, grabbed her keys and stole her vehicle.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Police spotted the stolen vehicle near Badger and tried to pull it over, but the driver had other ideas. Officers did not pursue the vehicle in the interest of public safety.
Shortly after 1:00 Thursday morning, the stolen vehicle was located on the side of the highway near Norris Arm. The suspect was located and arrested without incident.
The accused was charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, robbery, assault causing bodily harm, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of property obtained by crime.
