Enforcement organizations from across the province gathered at Confederation Building yesterday to honour their fallen.
A wreath-laying ceremony was held to remember police and peace officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The event is held on the last Sunday of every September
RNC, RCMP, Corrections, fisheries and forestry officers paraded to the Memorial Monument site outside the government building to mark the occasion.
RNC Constable Noel Gibbons says the event is significant, especially this year.
He says it has been one of the deadliest years for officers killed in the line of duty in Canadian history. He says the job is becoming increasingly dangerous, making it all the more significant to pay their respects.
