A new Abacus data poll shows that 42 per cent of committed voters polled say they support the federal Conservative Party. That’s a well ahead of the Liberals who garnered 33 per cent support among committed voters and 23 per cent for the NDP.
Among federal party leaders, federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh had the highest percentage of positive impressions at 40 per cent, compared to 33 per cent for the Conservative’s Pierre Poilievre, and 29 per cent for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The poll also identified the cost of living and health care as the top issues for Newfoundland and Labrador respondents, followed by housing affordability to a lesser degree.
Half of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians asked indicate they are living pay cheque to pay cheque, while 27 per cent say they are falling behind.
