A man is dead after hitting a moose on the highway in western Newfoundland.
The 54-year-old struck the animal on the TCH near Birchy Narrows around 3:00 a.m. early this morning. The vehicle was found down over a steep embankment by a passing car.
The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car. Evidence at the scene showed that the car had hit a moose before leaving the road.
